Would you fancy climbing 282 Mountains in merely 16 weeks? Well one man has decided to do just that!
Tackling this epic feat is ex-Household Cavalry soldier Jack Campbell, who has set himself the challenge of climbing all 282 of Scotland’s Munros by 1st October 2015. Jack chose to support the HCF because he has “witnessed first-hand the fantastic work that is carried out by the Household Cavalry Foundation in improving the lives of both the soldiers and horses of the Regiment.” Having been raised in Scotland, Jack is no stranger to the Munros but he had never attempted to climb more than one a day…until now.
So why the mountainous task? “The main thing I want to gain from doing this is just to show people you can set yourselves challenges in life no matter how big or small they are and if you just go for it and give it everything you’ve got, you will succeed eventually.”
He is now almost half way through his challenge and so far Jack has conquered around 125 Munros and has almost reached £6,000 of his £40,000 target for HCF and Parkinsons UK. We caught up with him recently and he said, “The weather is slowing me down due to the non-stop rain. Every donation and message spurs me on to keep going; it’s great to know that people are following the challenge and supporting the causes.”
