The Household Cavalry Foundation’s carol service was held at the Royal Military Chapel (Guards’ Chapel) on Tuesday 8th December at Wellington Barracks.
The rain stayed away for the event as guests arrived at the gates of the Chapel to take their seats. HRH The Princess Royal arrived to a Royal Salute and took her place for the service to begin, which was provided by The Reverend G Scott CF and The Reverend D Conning CF. Readings for the evening were given by Trooper J Reuter (LG, HCR), Staff Corporal P Holliday (RHG/D, HCMR), Captain T D E Mountain (RHG/D, HCMR), Lieutenant Colonel D James (LG, HCR) and Major General E A Smyth-Osbourne CBE.
Musical entertainment was provided during the service by the Guards’ Chapel Choir, the Band of the Household Cavalry, the Windsor Military Wives Choir and classical crossover artist, Camilla Kerslake.
Guests then retired to the Officers’ Mess where they were greeted by the Band of the Household Cavalry who offered musical entertainment throughout the reception as guests enjoyed a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne, who kindly sponsored the post service proceedings.
HRH The Princess Royal greeted special guests including casualties of the Household Cavalry, the performers of the evening and those who have gone above and beyond to raise funds for HCF.
Guests were invited to purchase either a Gold or Silver envelope from the Christmas Tree of Surprises, all containing a variety of gifts. Special thanks go to Col & MacArthur, The Berkeley Hotel, Barker’s Shoes, Geo. F. Trumper, GOAT, Hever Castle and Gardens, Household Cavalry Museum, Lord Elcho, Mosimann’s, Murdock London, Royal Automobile Club, Royal Windsor Horse Show, South Kensington Club, Surrey Cricket County Club, The Knightsbridge Lounge, The Sandringham Estate, Urban Retreat and Willie’s Cacao for their generous donations.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the event; you all made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all!
