The Household Cavalry's unique ceremonial role means that horses remain close to our heart.
The Household Cavalry Foundation
The Regiment repays it's debt of gratitude to its horses after so many years of loyal service.
Our horses are seen on duty for official State visits and Royal occasions as well as performing in our famous musical ride to audiences all over the UK and internationally.
The welfare of our horses is of vital importance to the Regiment and that concern continues long after they finish work and retire to new homes.
There is no government funding to support retired military horses and therefores on a case-by-case basis, we can provide funds for the care of our retired horses should their new owners need extra support due to unforeseen financial difficulty.
The HCF will consider, in the case of hardship, funding applications for veterinary procedures, livery fees and also supports charities such as The Horse Trust, that specialises in providing retirement for former working horses and is home to a number of those retired from the Household Cavalry.
Where possible the HCF will also seek to support owners of retired Cavalry horses with information on where to find the best advice regarding health and welfare and if necessary, will work with partners to try and secure a new home for horses who have given a lifetime's service to our country should their current home cease to be viable for any reason.
Dignity in retirement
Please support our horses. Your donation helps us ensure they enjoy a peaceful retirement after their loyal service.
