The Princess Royal’s visit to life size bronze of Sefton
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has this morning visited The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) to see the life size bronze of Sefton, which she was sadly unable to unveil in October last year. The bronze of the Household Cavalry horse, who survived the 1982 Hyde Park bombing, was commissioned by the RVC and funded by the late Lord Ballyedmond. The sculptor, Camilla Le May, was present to meet The Princess Royal at the Hawkshead Campus to discuss the making of the work. RVC vets and those who knew Sefton assisted Camilla in both capturing a likeness and in getting the gait and anatomy right. She especially made use of methods developed by the RVC Structure and motion laboratory to study the gait.
